Distance Learning Resources
Parents and educators, below are some of our favorite resources that you may find helpful for remote learning. Please let us know if there are any other resources you wish to recommend!

- If your student does not have access to a computer or Wifi for distance learning, request a laptop or a Hotspot from SFUSD through this form.

+ Online Learning Platforms
- DreamBox, which Horizons used this summer, offers fun math games for K-8 students; parents can access a 14-day free trial.
- Raz-Kids, which Horizons used this summer, offers hundreds of books in English and Spanish, with interactive elements such as quizzes. A 14-day free trial is available.
- Scholastic has a Learn at Home for Families program for 5.99/month, which provides students ages 4-10 with a variety of educational activities and readymade lessons.
+ Reading
- A San Francisco teacher put together this beautiful digital Latinx Library featuring dozens of readalouds, several of them bilingual.
- Epic! is a digital library used by Horizons this summer, with hundreds of e-books. It is free for teachers purchasing classroom access and offers parents a 30-day free trial.
- The Indianapolis Public Library has compiled a list of over 100 free video read-alouds.
- Check out the San Francio Public Library's calendar of online storytimes in English and Spanish. The Main and Excelsior locations are also reopening for curbside pickup (books must be reserved online in advance,) with more branches reopening in the fall.
+ Math and Science
- Cooking is a fun way to get kids to practice math skills like fractions and measurements - here's a few practical tips.
- If your students are fascinated by space, the Story Time from Space project has astronauts read STEM books and explain science concepts from aboard the International Space Station!
- Khan Academy can help students from elementary through high school review math concepts learned in class.
- Math Playground offers free math games for grades 1 through 6 to make practicing math fun.
+ Enrichment and more
- Many children's museums are holding online workshops, activities, and tours. Here is a complete list of what every children's museum in the U.S. is up to!
- D.C. Area Educators for social justice has created free, downloadable materials in English and Spanish to talk to young children about racism and introduce them to Black Lives Matter, including coloring and activity books.
- To keep kids active and relaxed, check out the Cosmic Kids Yoga Youtube channel for yoga classes with fun themes such as pirates and dinosaurs.
- The KIDZ BOP Dance Along Youtube channel leads kids into dance workouts to the tune of their favorite pop songs - have your own home dance party!
- Several zoos and aquariums have their animals on live cams, including the Monterey Bay Aquarium (check out the sea otter and penguin cams) and the San Diego Zoo (including giraffes, tigers, and monkeys.) Check to see at what times feedings occur!
- Several museums have put their collections online or created virtual tours, including the Smithsonian Natural History Museum (you can "visit" both past and present exhibits!)
