UNIQUELY AT SAN FRANCISCO FRIENDS
Horizons operates under the 501(c)(3) of San Francisco Friends School (SFFS), where SFFS acts as the fiscal sponsor. Horizons does not receive any direct financial support from SFFS, but does receive in-kind use of the school building and other support.
San Francisco Friends School is a K-8 private school located in San Francisco’s Mission District. Per the school’s mission statement, ”At San Francisco Friends School, students learn in a community grounded in the Quaker values of reflection, integrity, peaceful problem-solving and stewardship. Our teachers challenge students with a dynamic curriculum that inspires curiosity, cooperation and hard work. We teach children to listen to all voices and to trust their own. We engage with the world around us with kindness and conviction, working toward the Quaker ideal of a caring and just society.”
SFFS’ partnership with Horizons highlights the schools’ Quaker values in action!
There are many ways for members of the SFFS community to get involved with Horizons’ mission and work, including:
Summer Volunteers - High School SFFS alumni are encouraged to join our summer volunteer team!
Board Members - Each year the Horizons board is made up of approximately 50% SFFS community members
Summer Teachers- SFFS staff are more than welcome to work as Horizons summer staff or volunteer to lead fun enrichment classes!
Fundraising Champions - SFFS students and parents support Horizons fundraising efforts through events such as the Community Day book swap and Horizons Giving Day
If you are part of the Friends School community and would like to learn more or participate in Horizons at SFFS in any capacity, please reach out to us! We would love to have you on our team.
